- Peace time fire services were provided from a new fire station which had been built in Windmill Street in 1942 [so 1940 date may be incorrect]

- Second World War and Cold War Fire Station occupying a block between the northern ends of Windmill Street and Wrotham Road, Gravesend. There were garages opening into the courtyard for regular fire service appliances as well as those of the Auxiliary Fire Service, and a radio control room, hose drying and exercise towers. The fire station was built in 1942, became disused in 1972 and was demolished in 1973, its services being transferred to a new station in Coldharbour Road, Northfleet
